Daniel Smith

Time and again, innovation and creativity have inspired us into trying to develop a better world. Even during present day, when a worldwide pandemic has restricted our movements and ability to connect with each other, innovators and entrepreneurs have found their way to building the next generation of young pioneers and startups from the very safety of our homes. The speakers of this session have created platforms for young entrepreneurs to receive support and mentorship from across the world. This hour and a half long session introduced individual presentation by the speakers on their respective initiatives and was followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Mr. Daniel Smith from Innovation Program Lead, Sydney School of Entrepreneurship

Mr. Smith leads an inclusive and accessible platform based in Australia that helps deliver work integrated learning inside startup companies for young students across the world. Virtual Startup Internship Programs and Discover Program under Sydney School of Entrepreneurship provide a unique opportunity to students who are interested in careers within startups but have limited information on its workings. This online program not only gives students the opportunity to join in from diverse countries but also provides them with necessary skill sets required in today’s job field.

Mr. Joshua Flannery from Innovation Dojo Japan & Advisor, Rainmaking Innovation Japan

Mr. Flannery has initiated a unique initiative in Japan that helps young entrepreneurs with mentorship from different experts in the field of startups and entrepreneurship. While there is a low rate of entrepreneurship in Japan and a limited diversity of startup companies, there is definitely a growing market that requires guidance and incentive. Therefore, Innovation Dojo not only provides potential entrepreneurs with necessary guidance but also provides networking opportunities for them to build their startups. This free of charge service is helping entrepreneurship grow further in Japan and reach its potential innovative success.

Mr. Steve Sakanashi of Sekai Creator

Sekai Creator, led by Mr. Sakanashi, is an entrepreneurship curriculum for young innovators in Japan. Open to both Japanese and international students in Japan, this intensive program allows the youths to design their own ideas and gives them a great experience on how to solve current issues and network with diverse groups in the entrepreneurship circle. Mr. Sakanashi also mentioned the low spirit for entrepreneurship in Japan and how platforms such as Sekai Creator can help ignite the first step towards building a startup society in Japan.
